We were in Italy a few weeks ago and our dinner partner, a retiring Cambridge professor, held up his glass and said, “I have decided that life is too short to drink bad wine!” I dare say that is pearl of wisdom that should be added to the national curriculum!
Wines from southern Italy have been on the up in recent years with a lot of investment going into equipment and new focus on quality. This Passitivo is really proves that.
I purchased this bottle at the Dulwich Vintners store in Dulwich Village. The shop staff are very friendly and helpful and have an impressive range of wines. Definitely worth popping in and letting them guide you through the selection (they particularly specialise in wine from the Cahor region of France).
This Passitivo made from the attractive primitivo grape variety has a great nose of rich cherry and black forest fruits, gentle tannins, nice length and oes perfectly with Italian herb and mushroom linguini.
A really pleasing wine for any night of the week and a bargain at £11.
